POLICE were called to a busy York road after a bus passenger had to be taken to hospital.
North Yorkshire Police initially said a single decker bus had been in collision with a car at about 3.50pm close to the traffic lights at Foss Islands Road.
A police spokesman said there were no details on injuries at this time, but passengers were on board at the time of the collision.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service later said the bus had not been in a collision, but had braked suddenly. The violent stop caused a passenger on the bus to fall, and they were taken to York Hospital for treatment.
A spokeswoman for YAS could not confirm the gender or condition of the passenger.
Passengers were moved from the First bus to another vehicle in Stonebow, and police remained at the scene for some time with the driver.
Queuing traffic initially caused delays, but the road was reopen by about 4.30pm.
