A POP-UP shop that hosts community events has now opened thanks to a revamp from regeneration specialist Keepmoat.

The New Earswick shop, which was previously a post office, has been fitted with new electrics and heating, and redecorated.

The venue, which opened to the public in January, has seen more 30 people a day come through the doors. The pop-up shop will initially be open for three months and offers a range of activities like a "tea and toast" drop-in, pot luck suppers, art groups, and workshops in everything from finance to gardening.

Keepmoat also donated a fridge, microwave, oven and kettle to the shop.

The firm has recently carried out kitchen and bathroom refurbishment works to 220 properties in New Earswick on behalf of Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT).

Paul Jezusek, site manager for Keepmoat, said: “The refurbishment work we have carried out to the pop-up shop comes as part of Keepmoat’s pledge to put back into the communities in which we work.” For more information visit www.theopenshop.cc.
