TWO men were arrested yesterday in connection with the robbery of a homeless man in York.

North Yorkshire Police said a 58-year-old man reported he had been attacked in York city centre at about 7.50am on Monday.

A spokesman said the victim was hit in the face, fell to ground, and his mobile phone was stolen, in Swinegate.

Officers investigated the offence and arrested two men on suspicion of robbery at 1.30pm.

The spokesman said one of the men was later released and will face no further action.

The other, a 25-year-old man, has been released on bail as inquiries continue.
