SCARBOROUGH'S art galleries and venues blessed with an imaginative streak are gearing up to showcase artists at next week's Coastival.

Three artists will be hosting open-studio sessions at Woodend on The Crescent, during February 13 and 14, when Sally Gatie and Eileen Heaton will focus on painting and Lindsey Tyson on felt-making. On the same days, the Rotunda Museum will hold free open days from 10am to 5pm.

Director Wendy Holroyd says: “Once again, local, regional and national artists have risen to the Coastival challenge and come up with a stunning series of exhibitions and workshops to provide a wonderful backdrop to the festival.

“We're really grateful to all of them for coming up with imaginative and thought-provoking work for Coastival and we hope visitors will take the time to visit as many of them as they can fit in during the weekend. It will be well worth it.”
