A man is seeking psychiatric help after a police raid found indecent images of children on his computer, York Crown Court heard.
Some of the 270 plus photographs and videos that Michael Allen had downloaded from the internet were of the most serious category.
Allen, 34, of Huntsman's Walk, Foxwood, pleaded guilty to seven charges of having indecent images, videos and pictures of children and three of having extreme pornography.
He was given a three-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months on condition he does 30 rehabilitative sessions.
He was also made subject indefinitely to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) aimed at stopping him using the internet without police monitoring his activities and put on the sex offender register for seven years.
His solicitor advocate Kristian Cavanagh said he had already sought help from his GP who had recommended he get psychiatric help. That, together with the SHPO would ensure his future conduct would be monitored.
