THESE weird and wonderful creations were among some of the eye-catching entries in this year's York College hair and beauty competition.
The annual contest was held at the Ebor Stand at York Racecourse on Monday night and involved about 250 full and part-time hairdressing and beauty therapy students with local employers in the audience and some acting as judges.
Jayne Laverick, head of division for hair, beauty and holistic therapies at York College, said: “The competition gives students the opportunity to showcase the skills they learn in the college’s training salons and in local hair and beauty salons, where many of them work as apprentices.
"Working under strict competition conditions, the students produce a very high standards and develop their creativity. The quality of work is truly outstanding. A very big well done."
