A MAN who sexually assaulted two women on a train from York has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

Dominic Pemberton, 23, from Meanwood in Leeds, was returning home from York Races on Saturday, July 11, when he inappropriately grabbed and touched two women on the train.

British Transport Police said one of his victims raised the alarm, and the other had a severe panic attack following the incident. Pemberton was arrested when the train arrived in Leeds station.

Pemberton admitted two counts of sexual touching before Leeds Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 12, and was placed on Sex Offenders Register for five years, and was also handed a 12 month community order, ordered to undertake 180 hours unpaid work and must pay his victims £250 in compensation.

DC Jason Ridgway said: "I would like to commend the victims for reporting what must have been very traumatic and upsetting incidents to us.

"We take every report of unwanted sexual behaviour extremely seriously, it’s completely unacceptable and, as this case shows, we will always do our utmost to bring those responsible before the courts. I would urge anyone who has been a victim to let us know, either by texting us on 61016, or calling 0800 405040. In an emergency always dial 999."
