FOUR men have now been arrested over an attack which left a man with serious head injuries.

Police were called at 12 minutes past midnight in the early hours of Sunday, December 27, and found the injured man in Duffield Crescent in Sherburn in Elmet.

North Yorkshire Police said the man was walking with a friend from an address in Duffield Crescent, along Hungate Road to a nearby shop when a car stopped next to him. A group of men got out of the car and attacked him with a wooden implement before leaving the scene.

A spokeswoman confirmed today that two local men, aged 26 and 34, and two men from Leeds aged 28 and 29 have been arrested in connection with the attack.

All four men have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, remains in Hull Royal Infirmary in a critical condition.

Police want to speak to anyone who was in Duffield Crescent or Hungate Road between 11.30pm on Boxing Day night and a quarter past midnight.
