YOUNG and old celebrated Christmas together when some of Wigginton's youngest sportspeople visited a local residential home.
Members of Wigginton Grasshoppers Under Seven squad and their younger siblings brought the festive spirit to Rosevale Residential Home in the village with presents, carols and games.
Among the residents they entertained was a 95-year-old woman who has lived in Wigginton all her life.
"It was like when a grandparent is visited by their grandchildren, they had the same twinkle in their eye," said team manager Dave Moorhouse.
"We had a really good time. It was a great success. We played some games with the residents. They had a big football and the Christmas tree nearly came down at one point, but it stayed firm. I don't think we burnt any bridges and I hope we will be invited back again."
The oldest of the visiting footballers was seven. Together with some of their brothers and sisters, including an three-year-old child, they sang carols and gave cards and presents of biscuits and sweets.
