A YORK photographer has teamed up with Christian Aid to produce a calendar to raise funds for the charity.

Lewis Outing has chosen some of his favourite local images for the calendar, called York Seen in a Different Light.

The move follows the success of a similar calendar produced for 2015. It qualifies for the Government's match-funding scheme, meaning that for each pound generated through sales, a further £3 will be given to the charity.

The project being supported this year is one aimed at empowering women and girls to secure their rights in El Salvador and Honduras.

York Christian Aid Committee aims to raise £5,000 through various fundraising ideas, which will be increased to £20,000 through the match-funding.

Although middle-income countries, Honduras and El Salvador have hugely unequal societies and Christian Aid is beginning a four-year project to empower indigenous communities.

The calendar is produced by Mark Comer, a member of the committee. It is on sale in venues including Fairer World in Gillygate; the Spurriergate Centre; St Paul’s Bookshop in Fossgate and Aroma Cafe in Haxby.
