A NIGHTSPOT is being investigated by councillors after claims it allowed a stripper to perform as people walked past the window.

Scarborough's Quids Inn bar, in St Nicholas Street, is under "formal review" by Scarborough Borough Council after people reported seeing a stripper perform on the first floor of the venue in September.

Police have asked the council to review the pub's licence as officers claim people could see what was happening inside due to the premises' glass front.

Its submission to Scarborough Borough Council states that: “In recent years, licensing officers from both North Yorkshire Police and Scarborough Borough Council have spent a considerable amount of time and effort working with the Premises Licence Holder, Designated Premises Supervisor and management at the premises to address: the level of reported violent incidents; compliance issues, and instil a business model which promotes rather than undermines the four licensing objectives.

“Despite undertaking the Home Office recognised ‘A Stepped Approach Towards Achieving Compliance’ the premises continues to undermine the licensing objectives.

“One recent example being on Saturday September 26, an act of striptease (full nudity) on the first floor of the premises in front of full-length plate glass windows; clearly visible to anyone walking down St Nicholas Street."
