STUDENTS at a York school will take to the stage tonight in a performance of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
Tickets are still available for the production at St Peter’s School, which includes pupils from age 14 to 18, and runs for three nights until Friday.
The play follows a neighbourhood in unrest after a group of girls accuse townspeople of witchcraft. It is a dramatised and partially fictionalised story of the Salem witch trials that took place in Massachusetts during 1692 and 1693.
Helen Lindley, director of drama at St Peter’s School, said: “This year marks the centenary of Arthur Miller’s birth, so it’s great to be doing one of his plays to mark this anniversary. It is a challenge for the actors and they have all risen to this fantastically. I am excited for opening night.”
Tickets are priced at £5 for under 18s and OAPS, and £10 for adults.
