CONSUMERISM one, children and young at heart nil.

I recently took my two young grandchildren into York to see the Christmas lights and enjoy a treat on the carousel.

We were disappointed when all we found was a row of wooden huts where the carousel should be. Something for everyone to enjoy. I don't think so.

What an insult to glibly say, as Make It York did, that they "tried to get another operator" when Warrington's have served the city well for 25 years.

Hang your heads in shame Make It York and please listen to the residents of York when planning next year's event.
