FOLK rock luminaries Fairport Convention are to play the Grand Opera House, York, on March 1 next year.
Each year starts with Fairport covering the length and breadth of Britain on their winter tour, followed by a more relaxed spring tour, and then attention turns to the band's annual staging of the Cropredy Convention festival in Oxfordshire in August.
Each December, the band's time is occupied by side-projects and their respective Christmas tours. Lead singer and guitarist Simon Nicol tours with The Albion Christmas Band; bass guitarist Dave Pegg with both The Dylan Project and Peggy & Anthony John Clarke; violinist Ric Sanders with the Ric Sanders Trio; vocalist and fiddler Chris Leslie with St Agnes Fountain and percussionist Gerry Conway with both Fotheringay and The Dylan Project.
