YORK artist Mark Hearld has won two prestigious prizes at an exhibition in London.
His art works “Vixen” and “Cockerell” were chosen out of a nationwide call for entries to be part of the Discerning Eye exhibition - which shows works selected by six prominent figures in the arts - by ceramicist Emma Bridgewater.
At the exhibition Hearld’s painting “Vixen” has won the exhibition’s Benton Purchase Prize, while “Cockerell” has been awarded the Meynell Fenton Prize.
The Discerning Eye is an educational charity which encourages a wider understanding and appreciation of the visual arts. The exhibition selectors this year also included fashion designer turned sculptor Nicole Farhi, and actor Larry Lamb. The exhibition continues at The Mall Gallery in London until Sunday, November 22.
