THE roof of a York village hall has collapsed following the recent bad weather.
As previously reported in The Press, there were plans to put a new roof on Wheldrake Village Hall, but it has succumbed to the heavy rain and strong winds in the wake of storm Barney and now only a small portion of the roof remains.

Last week The Press reported that estate agency Churchills donated £5,000 towards a new roof.
The Wheldrake Recreation Association, a charitable trust which manages the hall and outdoor sports facilities, said then that the cost of the roof repairs is estimated to be in excess of £60,000, and villagers have raised £45,000 through donations.
A Raise the Roof fundraising appeal also led to an anonymous donor pledging to provide £10,000 if a local business would donate the final £5,000.
