RATHER than embarking on a grand celebration, The Unthanks are marking their tenth anniversary quietly with a short tour of small, intimate spaces and a pared-back line-up.

On Sunday night, the sold-out All Saints Church, Pocklington, will play host to Tyneside sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank and Rachel's husband, the pianist, producer, arranger and composer, Adrian McNally, at 7.30pm.

The Unthanks reckon that if folk music is a lifelong pursuit, ten years is but a drop in the ocean; a philosophy that will see the sisters eschew an exploitative Best Of in favour of The Unthanks' limited-edition Memory Box. Available at £35 only from theunthanks.com (and on tour), it will arrive hand-finished, stamped, numbered, signed and posted with the owner’s name on it.

Pre-orders will leave the Unthank studio on December 7 with the Memory Box's CD of archive rarities, exclusive live tracks, demos and outtakes, featuring a new Christmas single, an unreleased version of Robert Wyatt’s Alifie/Alifib, never-before-heard Winterset recordings, BBC session tracks, childhood folk-club snapshots and more besides.

The 70-minute CD includes tracks such as Tar Barrel In Dale, Sexy Sadie and Oak, Ash And Thorn, previously available only on compilation albums featuring other acts.

In the box too is The Unthanks On Film, a 90-minute DVD that includes a feature-length film of the Mount the Air tour, live from Newcastle City Hall, plus archive extras such as footage from Abbey Road of Rachel Unthank & The Winterset, the Shipyards films from Horncliffe Mansion and the Unthanks' animated single videos.

Also inside the box will be The Unthanks Songbook, a 60-page book of Rachel and Becky's favourite songs, including original cuttings from their own songbooks; The Unthanks Kitchen, a recipe book of dishes made at the Unthanks' Northumberland winter weekends; the first ever Unthanks seven-inch single, 2000 Miles and Tar Barrel In Dale; two art prints by Becky Unthank and Natalie Rae Reed, the cover artist for the latest Unthanks' studio album, Mount The Air; two postcards by Natalie Rae Reed; a handful of snaps and a signed screen-printed card.

Only the Archive Treasures CD will be available separately.
