A DRAMA charting the early life of Queen Victoria is filming at the Guildhall today.

ITV's Victoria, starring Doctor Who's Jenna Coleman as the formidable monarch, is set in London, but parts are being filmed in North Yorkshire.

Crews are in York today to shoot scenes for the upcoming show, which is Coleman's first post-Doctor Who project following her stint as the time lord's companion Clara Oswald.

Restictions will also be put in place around Ogleforth, Chapter House Street, College Street and Deangate between 6pm and midnight tomorrow to allow filming to take place.

The former RAF base at Church Fenton has been converted into The Yorkshire Studios, and will host the new ITV show Victoria for seven months.

The series will open with a 90-minute episode, followed by seven one-hour episodes.
