A 79-YEAR-OLD woman has been seriously injured in a car crash last night in Lund, near Market Weighton.
Police, ambulance and the fire brigade service all attended the scene. The woman was trapped in her car and needed cutting out.
She was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with two broken ankles.
The crash happened on the B1248 between Mere Lane and East Street in the village. The woman, from Middleton-on-the-Wolds, was driving a red Ford Focus, which collided with a black Ford Focus.
The black car was being driven by a 49-year-old Bridlington man, who sustained soft tissue seatbelt damage and also required medical treatment.
The single carriageway road is a 60mph speed limit, and the cars struck each other head on.
The crash happened at around 6.45pm. Humberside Police are now appealing for witnesses, particularly a man driving a light coloured Volkswagen Golf who stopped at the scene to offer assistance.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log 444 of 12/10/2015.
