FOUR fire crews were called to a chip shop when a fryer set alight.
Engines from Acomb, York and Huntington were sent along with the Aerial Lader Platform to a chip shop in Hawthorn Terrace Central, New Earswick, at 11.15 this morning.
The fire, which was started by overheated oil, had been extinguished using a CO2 extinguisher and fire blanket on arrival.
Firefighters used fans to ventilate the property and carried out a safety inspection.
Nobody was injured.
