AGGRESSION and intensity.

That's what York RUFC coach Lee Denham is expecting from his team when they travel to West Park Leeds in Yorkshire One tomorrow looking to get back on track.

The Clifton Parkers lost to Heath last time out with club chiefs bemoaning a less than energetic performance.

Denham is determined that won't happen when they go to West Yorkshire.

"We were dominant in scrummage but we weren't as aggressive as Heath were," he said. "We got beaten up in the open and, for some reason, we turned up thinking we were going to win the game easily. Heath came at us all guns firing.

"They (the players) bash each other to bits in training and then turn up on Saturday and don't do it. It is as if they would rather hit their own mates than people who they don't know. We are getting there, though. It is a bit of a culture change for them and they fall back very quickly into old patterns."

Ben Johnson is back for York at scrum-half but Chris Fox is missing.

Malton & Norton skipper Sam Triffitt is out until after Christmas after having a knee cartilage operation as his side prepare to go to Bradford Salem in Yorkshire One.

Club spokesman Bill Laidler said: "It's a difficult place to go but we have to do what we can. We have got momentum now but Sam Triffitt is out until just after Christmas. Ali Coe will take over (as captain)."

Jamie Rounthwaite also returns in the second row after missing the last couple of weeks.

Pocklington travel to Beverley on Saturday for their second East Yorkshire derby of the season in North One East.

The two sides have not met for a couple of years after Beverley were promoted to the division above in 2013. But they were relegated at the end of last season and have yet to win this term.

Pocklington are without forwards Archie Fothergill and Dan Elvidge, but front row Matt Greenwood is available again. Pocklington also welcomed two Australian recruits at the weekend.

Charlie Wilson and Johnny Wood both arrived from Newcastle, New South Wales, planning to play rugby for the club for the next two years.

The pair played for their club, Merewether Carlton, in the Newcastle U20 Grand Final before flying to England and getting straight into training with Pocklington.
