WIGGINTON Grasshoppers made it four wins out of four in York Sunday Morning League division one with a 5-2 success at Malt Shovel.

Hoppers took an early lead when Jordan Holt headed home Tom Metcalfe's corner and their advantage was soon doubled when Tom Coates scored a header too from eight yards out.

Josh Brigham's strike gave the home side hope prior to half-time but Coates added his second soon after the break to restore the visitors' two-goal lead. Neale Holmes pushed Wiggy further clear before Derry Robson hit a screamer from 25 yards to make it 4-2.

A late goal from Steve Jarvis provided Wigginton with their fifth of the game.

Quakerwood bounced back to form in the league with a 7-3 triumph over Britannia Tadcaster.

In division two, second-placed Thorpe United drew 2-2 with local rivals Selby Olympia.

Christopher Thompson and Chris Coxon were on target for the visitors while the hosts' goals came from James Pearson and Jake Wild.

NUR took the lead against Wentworth in the first minute thanks to a neat volley from Stuart Clarke. Nathan Cooper quickly doubled the advantage before Dom Green made it 2-1.

James O'Donnell restored NUR's two-goal cushion but two rapid Wentworth goals from Green and Dan Franks brought the scores level just before the interval.

In the second half, NUR asserted themselves, headed by a hat-trick from Danny Cotton, and Gary Stephenson and man-of-the-match Ben Spencer also netted as they finished 8-3 victors.

York Medics gained a 4-1 win over Knapton Lions in the Junior Challenge Trophy.

Henry Lonsdale, Matthew Fortnam, Alex Renwick and Jack Buchanan were on the scoresheet for the Medics. Dan Conway struck a long-range effort which nutmegged the keeper for Knapton's consolation.
