A SHORT film made by a young crew from York will premier in the city tonight.

Silence And Tears is a 30-minute production shot with a cast of just five, and will be screened free at Reel Cinema tonight at 8pm.

Anevay Heaven, 19, is a counselling, couching and mentoring student at York St John University, and plays one of the lead characters.

She said: "David Heaven, who is no relation, made his first film, A Broken Promise, last year. People seemed to like it, so he thought he would do another this year.

"I would love to be an actress. I've done a few things before and thought this would be a good piece, and I want to support local film-makers."

The film is the story of Josie, played by Anevay, in what the film-makers 892/Shy Girlie Films describe as a Yorkshire Dales-set "tale of teenage love, loss, tragedy, guilt and rural isolation in the 1970s", with "a final act of desperation in the present day".

Anevay said: "It's a small cast of five people but we all play very important parts in the film. There's a lot of emotion in the film. We're very proud of it.

"I would urge everyone to come along, and suggest they bring a packet of tissues. It's a film made by local people and by coming along, you will support film-making in the local area. David has done a fantastic job of putting it all together and his partner has done brilliantly with the script. We're all very proud of it."

Entry is free, at Reel Cinema's screen five at 8pm. For more information search Facebook for 892/Shy Girlie Films.
