THE business career of a pupil at Canon Lee School in Clifton has taken off after he won a prize in the Young Enterprise Scheme.

Callum Green was named Outstanding Individual Entrepreneur at the regional final awards ceremony in Leeds. His prize was a week of work experience at Leeds Bradford Airport, including experience of air traffic control, airside operations and the British Airways check-in desk.

Callum was part of a group of Year 10 students who took part in the scheme. They were tasked with doing an ‘Airline Master Class’ challenge which saw small group of students compete against each other. They were given a budget of £200 million to set up and run their own airline. They negotiated buying aircraft, decided which routes to fly, design logos, uniforms and eventually had to sell the tickets in a staged setting.

The winning team were invited to the regional finals in Leeds where Callum won his award and the team just missed out on the group prize.

A representative from Canon Lee School said: “We are proud of all of our students. Callum has been exemplary throughout the Young Enterprise scheme showing a natural flair for business. We are sure that he will go a long way in the future.”
