YORK City manager Russ Wilcox has admitted he made a mistake replacing attacker Michael Coulson with midfielder Ben Godfrey prior to Saturday's capitulation against Cambridge.
The Minstermen led 2-0 but went on to only earn a share of the spoils following the 65th-minute substitution, leading to strong criticism of the under-pressure manager from the David Longhurst Stand and on social media networks after the game.
Having reflected on the tactical change over the weekend, Wilcox said: "Hindsight is wonderful but I have to take responsibility for everything that happens during games and can have no problem with taking criticism for that. Maybe I was the hero when I made the substitutions that saw us come back to draw 2-2 with Carlisle after being 2-0 down with ten men, but I didn't get Saturday's right and only I can take ownership of that decision."
