THIEVES stole £7000 worth of valuable rings from an antiques shop in York on Saturday afternoon.

The thefts happened on Saturday, August 29 between 12:30pm and 1.10pm at York Minster Antiques near St William's College in College Street.

A dark brown velvet display tray holding 27 rings was taken. The rings have a total value of around £7000 and are quite distinctive, particularly one diamond ring with an especially high setting.

Now police are appealing for help from anyone who might be able to assist in their investigation.
