A GLOBE-TROTTING teenager has used her creative skills to raise £4,320 for charity.

Charlotte Rose, 18, made calendars from photographs she took of Venice and Rome then sold them to make money for Special Needs Activity and Play Provision for York (SNAPPY).

The enterprising gap year student was able to sell on the calendars in bulk after forging partnerships with businesses including the Wetherby Whaler fish and chip shops, which sold copies of the calendar in its branches in Guiseley, Wetherby, Wakefield, York and Pudsey.

Charlotte has been fundraising for SNAPPY, a charity giving disabled children the chance to take part in activities, for 10 years since she began her recovery from a brain haemorrhage at Leeds General Infirmary.

She has raised thousands of pounds through school fundraising events and chose to donate money to the charity instead of receiving birthday presents.

Charlotte said: "The work that SNAPPY does with children and young people in York is absolutely vital and I wanted to fundraise for the charity to ensure they could provide as much equipment as possible for everyone that visits the centre.

"I’m a keen photographer and producing the calendar using my own photographs was a great way to produce something I’m passionate about for a brilliant cause.”

Anne Stamp, service manager at SNAPPY, said: "Charlotte’s fundraising has provided brand-new equipment we needed for the summer school, including paddling pools, bikes and gardening equipment.

"We were also able to fund an extra staff member, which allowed three more children to take part in the summer scheme, which is absolutely fantastic.”

Joanne Westmoreland, who runs the Wetherby Whaler restaurant in York, added: “As soon as we heard about Charlotte’s mission to raise money for SNAPPY, we wanted to be involved."
