TOM Stade brings his distinctive "drunken Canadian"’ persona to the Great Yorkshire Fringe, dispensing incoherent, rambling but surprisingly insightful comedy to an eager crowd.

In addition to being a regular fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe, Stade has made numerous television appearances during his career on such shows as Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo.

The White Rose Rotunda was packed to capacity with excited audience members as Stade took to the stage, garnering a huge round of applause. His usual acerbic attitude was on full display as he spoke about his love of vintage clothing shops, daytime television and the grim reality of the camping conditions at Glastonbury Festival.

Despite taking on a wide and extremely disparate selection of topics, Stade’s performance was almost mesmerising to watch. His dry, laconic delivery and natural world-weary charisma had the whole venue in stitches, especially when he would break off mid-routine just to chat with the poor unsuspecting folk in the front row.

However, not everyone was happy. At several points, Stade found himself being interrupted by shouts from the audience. One fan in particular decided to voice his upset that Stade had not yet done his "‘meat van" story. Stade then proceeded to take apart the heckler with practised ease, emphasising the importance of moving forward with one’s life and to enjoy the ride.

Tom Stade was simply hilarious, turning small truths and little moments into great big laughs. Often unpredictable and never boring, Stade is a top-notch comedian with a real affection for his audience.
