THE 2015 Musical Play In A Week summer project at the National Centre for Early Music will be The Sun King And The Busker.

Running at St Margaret's Church, in Walmgate, York, from August 10 to 14, this week of creativity and fun is suitable for ten to 15 year olds who enjoy acting, making music with any instrument or voice and listening to thrilling stories from the past.

The Sun King And The Busker tells the story of how, from the day he danced for Louis XIV, Jean-Baptiste Lully has enjoyed unprecedented favour with the French king. The musician hides a secret, however, that could threaten his position at court. Can Lully keep his past hidden from his jealous rivals, and what if they intend to destroy more than his reputation?

No previous experience is required to participate in The Musical Play In A Week, only enthusiasm and commitment. The sessions will take place from 10am to 4pm each day, finishing with a performance for friends and family on August 14 at 7pm.

The cost is £120 per child, although bursary places are available. More details can be found at ncem.co.uk/mp2015 or ring 01904 658338 to book a place.
