THE Kagools bound onto the stage for an hour of nervous energy, audience interaction and family friendly clowning which will leave children grinning.

The silent duo have a series of sketches, pratfalls and spats that they perform with a brilliant enthusiasm, verging on awkward humour, which works well in small doses. Sometimes their pauses can seem a bit too prolonged, affecting the pacing of the show.

Likewise their use of a projection screen for a mix of live action and recorded comedy works excellently for the most part, but the timing needs to be tightened slightly.

The Kagools' strength lies in their double act's dynamic, a love-hate friendship only made the better for their rivalry throughout the show. Whether it's snacks, love interests or best friends they're fighting over, the Kagools have a charming chemistry which marries classic clown humour and more abstract alternative comedy.

The show could benefit from less audience interaction. While one instance culminates in a nice call back later, some segments of bringing the audience on stage for jokes can feel laboured when they don't have an effective punchline. I'm sure these gags might work better with a more willing audience, but the Kagools' dynamic itself compensates for these less impressive elements.

The Kagools' show is a sign of a good double act, and with some fine tuning it could be an excellent show for kids and their more harshly discerning parents.
