RUNNERS took part in the world's most colourful 5K race when Run or Dye was staged at Castle Howard at the weekend.

As competitors ran, walked, danced or skipped along the course through parkland and hills surrounding the stately home near Malton, they were showered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based powdered dye at every kilometre, turning them into a 'technicolour canvas of fun,' said organisers.

Then when they crossed the finishing line, they found themselves in the middle of a colourstorm.

Castle Howard hosted the event for the first time last year, attracting 2,000 entries, and so organisers decided to return there this year, promising a bigger, better and brighter event.
