FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a mattress blaze in a seventh floor bedroom at a York hotel.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus swiftly extinguished the fire at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in North Street, said York fire station manager Paul Bennett.
He said no one was injured and guests were evacuated from the hotel after the fire broke out just after 1pm today.
They had now been allowed back inside, apart from those staying in rooms along the corridor where the fire broke out.
Firefighters from York, Acomb, Huntington and Tadcaster were called to the fire, which was now under investigation by police and fire officers.
He added that the alarm was raised when a smoke detector was activated, and the room was heavily smoke logged.
