A MAN has been prosecuted after he advertised a number of cars for sale by parking them on a village roadside.
Antony Heppenstall, of Southsea Road in Flamborough, was ordered to pay a total of £620 by Beverley magistrates.
Heppenstall pleaded guilty to three offences of presenting two or more vehicles and advertising them for sale, for business purposes, on the Tiger Inn Access Road, in Beeford, between January and April.
Mike Featherby, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s head of streetscene services, said: “We do have a problem in the East Riding with some motor dealers using public highways to park their vehicles and advertise them for sale.
“We don’t want our roads to become advertising spaces. Cars for sale can cause a distraction to other drivers and a nuisance to local residents.
“People should be aware that if we believe this is a commercial operation, we will prosecute.”
