LARGE cannabis plants have been found growing in the wild in York.
The police believe the 18 plants - which were found near the railway line in Poppleton Ings - have been cultivated deliberately.
A dog walker called the police after seeing the plants growing in some shrubbery.
The plants were not fully grown but were fairly big, police said, and they have been seized by officers who are now trying to identify who was growing them.
Police left a note at the scene reading: "Hi, Please attend Fulford PS to collect your plants. Bring ID. Love, North Yorkshire Police."
Anyone with information about the cannabis plants is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for the York West Safer Neighbourhood Team.
