A MAN has been arrested after a knifepoint robbery in North Yorkshire.

Police were called to the Number One Shop in Electric Avenue, Harrogate, at about 5.40pm on Monday, June 29, after a man armed with a knife threatened staff and made off with cash.

He fled the scene on foot along Skipton Road towards Ripon Road, and while nobody was injured during the robbery, shop staff were left extremely shaken.

The suspect was described as white, about 6ft 2ins to 6ft 3ins tall, slim, wearing dark clothes and his face was covered.

A spokesman said a 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the robbery, and remains in police custody.
