THE air ambulance was called after two cyclists riding a tandem bike were involved in an accident. 

The bike collided with a Ford car at the junction of Gowthorpe and Scott Road in Selby at 1.10pm. 

Both cyclists - a man and a woman - were injured and were seen lying in the road by onlookers. 

The air ambulance was called to the scene, a North Yorkshire Police spokesman said.

They said their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
