A MOTORIST has been seriously injured in a crash on the A64 between York and Tadcaster.
North Yorkshire Police said the man, who is in his 30s, was the sole occupant of a Vauxhall Corsa which left the road on the dual carriageway near Tadcaster at about 1.30pm today.
A spokesman said one lane of the dual carriageway was closed following the single vehicle accident, to which an air ambulance was called.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said firefighters were called to assist but the casualty had been removed from the vehicle by the time they arrived.
The accident caused delays for traffic heading towards York from Leeds and the A1.
A motorist has tweeted a picture showing an air ambulance at the scene of the accident.
