EMERGENCY services are at the scene of a crash on the A1M.
The collision involved two vehicles travelling in the southbound carriageway close to Junction 49, near Dishforth, at about 3.05pm.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said at least one person was thought to have been injured in the incident, but it was unclear at this time how serious their injuries were.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
UPDATE - 4.35PM: The Highways Agency has just announced two lanes of the southbound carriageway have now been reopened.

UPDATE - 4.55pm: The Highways Agency say all lanes of the southbound carriagway are now open, but advise delays are still expected due to the volume of Bank Holiday traffic and due to the incident.
UPDATE - 6.45pm: North Yorkshire Police have posted this image of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, which they say left the motorist with only minor injuries.
