Moors ablaze near steam railway line
NINE thousand square metres of undergrowth has been on fire alongside the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line near Levisham Station.
Firefighters from Pickering, Kirbymoorside, Whitby and Malton have been tackling the blaze this afternoon, using two jets, one hose and four knapsack sprayers.
"Good progress is being made damping down hotspots," said a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
