VOCAL Flourish – York’s first dementia choir – is holding its debut concert this weekend, which comes after Dementia Awareness Week.
Despite only having started four months ago, Vocal Flourish are already set to give their first performance this Saturday, as part of Dementia Awareness Week.
The performance will be held on Saturday at 6pm, at York Unitarian Chapel in St Saviourgate.
Organiser Emily Abbott said: “Vocal Flourish is a choir for people with dementia.
“Carers for people with dementia are welcome too.
“It is unique in having high expectations of people with dementia – a powerful challenge to current practice in dementia services and activities. “It gives people with dementia a rare chance to work at something and get better at it, to learn new things, and to feel proud of what they can do. And it’s really good fun.”
