A SEX pest who tried to lure York schoolboys into his car has been permanently banned from owning any vehicle and will be restricted in how he can travel and use the internet on his release from prison.

Martin Kidd has convictions for attempted abduction by trying to entice two boys into his car when they were walking along roads near two schools in York and has used the internet and social media to contact children as part of grooming them for sexual activities.

He is currently serving a three-year jail sentence for repeatedly breaching a court order made to protect children from him.

Now the Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, has made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely with six restrictions.

“This is to protect children and to protect you from getting into the kind of situation which has brought you into conflict with the law,” he told Kidd, who appeared at York Crown Court via a video link from prison.

“This is not simply a piece of paper which you can ignore.

If you breach the terms of this order, it is a criminal offence for which you can receive a sentence of up to five years.”

Under the order, Kidd, 24, of Rose Tree Grove, New Earswick, is now banned from owning any vehicle or using more than one phone or computer or other electronic equipment to access the internet.

The device he does use must have special software that enables police to monitor his internet use, he must allow police to inspect it whenever they want and he is banned from deleting its records of his internet use.

He is not allowed to be in the same car as a child under 16 unless the adult in charge of the child, such as its parent, is also in the car, and he cannot live or stay in the same household as a child or have unsupervised contact with any child under 16 without the express approval of social services and with the consent of the child’s parent after they have been given full details of his crimes.
