A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash between a car and motorbike in Sherburn in Elmet.

The 51-year-old man, from Liversedge, West Yorkshire, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary suffering from fractures to his spine, shoulder, ribs, leg and pelvis following the incident at 7.40am on Sunday.

He was travelling on a blue and white Suzuki GSXR motorbike with two other riders motorcycle when he was in collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa on the B1222 at Newthorpe.

His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.

Officers are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone who saw any of the vehicles prior to the collision occurring.
