THIS spring Kunsthuis art gallery in Crayke is drawing together work by Dutch and British artists relating to exciting elements of Holland's culture.

The exhibition of nature-inspired ceramics and joyful, intuitive paintings highlights the country – both its natural and urban beauty - while also celebrating cycling and the sights seen during bike rides in the country and city.

'A Bike Ride through the Netherlands' consists of a rich selection of work by Tony Noble, whose detailed depictions of Amsterdam bicycles form a series exploring intriguing relations between brightly coloured and pallid urban forms.

The gallery also presents the work of Flos Pol’s work for the first time, who is a Dutch painter who explores aspects of nature, focusing on flora and fauna.

The exhibition features the work of Lucie Berben, a ceramicist from Maasbracht, Holland, whose work explores emotions, natural shapes and tactility through organic forms.

Additionally this spring, Jude Brown’s paintings are showcased within the café - an artist whose colourful, impressionistic work focuses on musicians and the act of playing.

Kunsthuis opened in June last year and is based within Dutch house, Crayke.

Owners Cecile Creemers and Sjaak Kastelijn moved to Yorkshire over six years ago and began running their Dutch café amidst a wildlife garden in 2010.

Cecile said: " Drawing inspiration from its wild surroundings, Kunsthuis offers something new to Yorkshire, presenting Dutch contemporary pieces alongside works by respected British artists.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to explore Crayke’s stunning scenery in springtime along with our latest exhibition. For those who love walking there is a circular walk that runs through Dutch house and into fields and woodland, along with lengthier walks in close proximity to the site. The village is also a wonderful location for cyclists."

The exhibition runs until May 3. From April - October, Kunsthuis is open Wednesday - Sunday, 10am - 5pm.
