SOME speed bumps in York will be temporarily removed later this month.
The speed cushions in Tang Hall Lane will be removed by City of York Council in a week of alterations ahead of the Tour de Yorkshire in May.
Work to remove the cushions is set to take one week to complete, between the hours of 9.15am and 3.45pm, from Monday, April 27, and further work will take place following the Tour to install new cushions made from recycled rubber.
Tony Clarke, head of transport at the council, said: “The current speed cushions are very worn and damaged.
“We have timed these works to coincide with the Tour de Yorkshire, under the advice that speed cushions can be dangerous for peloton races because they’re an inconsistent road surface.”
Residents are urged not to park vehicles on the road or near the speed cushions during the time the works is taking place and access requirements can be arranged with the site supervisor and the traffic management officer on site, or by phoning the council on 01904 551550.
