DOCTOR Who and the daleks are helping to raise cash for terminally ill patients.

A script from the popular BBC series has been donated by Renfrewshire actor David Tennant to Paisley charity the Accord Hospice.

The words, signed by The Doctor and Billie Piper, will be auctioned at a ball on Saturday to raise money the hospice.

Paisley singer Paolo Nutini has also lent his support by giving his double platinum disc from massive hit album The Streets.

Helen McLauchlan, the fundraising co-ordinator for the hospice which offers care and respite to those with incurable illnesses, said: "David's dad is our honorary president and his mum works on one of our fundraising committees so it was great to be able to get the script.

"The disc is also a very special gift from Paolo because there's only one other like it and his parents have that one."

But Doctor fans won't be able to get their hands on these two exact-replica daleks - they were loaned for the launch of the ball by life-long Doctor Who fan Ken Meikle, of Barrhead, who's a friend of the television show's prop maker.

The theme of Saturday's ball, being held in Paisley Town Hall, is 2007: A licence to thrill' with all the male guests expected to dress up in James Bond style.

"We'll all be having our cocktails shaken not stirred on the night," added Mrs McLauchlan.

"It's sold out with 270 people having bought tickets and we expect to raise more than £20,000."

A Peugeot 207 and diamond ring have also been donated for the auction.
