A teenager was sentenced to four years behind bars for carrying out a bottle attack on a man who had told him off for annoying children.
Liam McDonald, 17, of Cardonald, Glasgow left his victim scarred for life after slashing him.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard McDonald hit Martin Grant, 40, on the head and body with a broken bottle, leaving him with horror injuries, including a collapsed lung.
McDonald had been charged with attempted murder in the attack in Allanton Drive, Cardonald but this was reduced to a charge of assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
On the night of the attack McDonald had approached people, asking for a phone and cigarettes.
The youth was later pointed out to Mr Grant who got out of his car and asked him why he was annoying children.
He asked Mr Grant: "Are you carrying?" but the victim told him he did not carry weapons.
McDonald held a bottle in his hand and swung it at the older man, who dodged the blow. The thug then lunged at Mr Grant, striking him in the face with a broken bottle.
McDonald, along with other youths later returned to the scene where the teenager chased and caught Mr Grant, and repeatedly hit him with the broken bottle.
Judge Lord Hodge told him he must serve an extended sentence of a further two years under supervision.
