POLICE investigating a serious sex attack at a nature reserve say there has been a significant response from members of the public.

North Yorkshire Police also said it would attend Quarry Moor Nature Reserve in Ripon today to gather more information from visitors.

The incident, which involved a woman in her 30s, happened last Tuesday and Det Insp Allan Harder, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have had a great response following our initial appeal, with many people coming forward with information to assist our investigation.

“We are continuing to follow a number of lines of enquiry and I would like to urge those who have not yet come forward to please do so.

“Anyone who was in the area of the Quarry Moor Nature Reserve in Ripon between the hours of 9am and 1pm last Tuesday (March 24) might have information that is key to our investigation into this traumatic crime. Please get in touch and pass on any information you might have, even if you think it is insignificant.”

Police will be speaking to as many people as possible to gather information and to help jog people’s memories.
