AT the weekend I visited the new EcoDepot off James Street. City of York Council is to be congratulated on this bold and inspiring development.

The office building is a state-of-the-art sustainable building with heating being powered by sunlight through photovoltaic cells, a timber structure with straw insulation (locally-sourced, properly-managed forests), and rainwater harvesting.

As we move towards more sustainable lifestyles - something we all have to do - it is hugely encouraging to see a statutory body providing leadership in this way.
