A MAN was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and other offences following a police pursuit through York.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police’s Road Crime Team saw a black Ford Fiesta in Danebury Drive at about 6.10pm on Thursday and, acting on intelligence held by police, requested the driver to pull over.

Police said the driver of the Fiesta did not stop, and instead drove off around Beckfield Lane, Boroughbridge Road, Carr Lane, and through Acomb.

Officers from the Road Crime Team followed the vehicle back into Carr Lane, and members of the York West Safer Neighbourhood Team and the North Yorkshire Police Dog Section were also involved in the pursuit before the driver turned into Rosedale Drive and eventually came to a stop in Viking Road at about 6.20pm.

A police spokesman said a 38-year-old York man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of failing to stop for police, suspicion of dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.
