A WOMAN has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Boston Spa post office, and police have released new CCTV images of the raid.

Two men wearing wigs and women’s clothing – one of them in a wheelchair – made off without their haul following the robbery, at about 9.30am on Monday. Police said cash was found outside the post office.

The pair fired a shotgun once outside the premises before making their escape in a stolen white Nissan Juke, which was later found burned out nearby.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Leeds District CID, said: “The offenders left the scene in a white Nissan Juke which was found on fire nearby in Beeches End a short time later.”

He said police believe the robbers then left Beeches End in a white sports car, and the money was left behind due to members of the public attempting to stop the robbers.

He said a male member of staff from the post office was hit on the head with a crowbar during the struggle outside, but not seriously injured.

Anyone with information should phone Leeds District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers.
